Hagerty Redline Rebuild Video: The 1974 Honda CT70 Is DONE – Watch The Awesome Payoff Video Here

Hagerty Redline Rebuild Video: The 1974 Honda CT70 Is DONE – Watch The Awesome Payoff Video Here

We’ve been waiting for a while to see this one. The latest project in the Hagerty Redline Rebuild series has been a 1974 Honda CT70 mini-bike. These things have a cult following and command top dollar on the internet, even for forlorn junk. The idea of seeing one taken all the way down to its bare essentials and then re constructed like a brand new one is the coolest part.

As you’ll watch, every single piece of this machine was checked, disassembled, R&R’d or replaced during this build. No stone was left unturned, no part left made anything less than perfect.

We’d ramble on but we don’t need to. You know the drill. Redline Rebuild rules!

Motion Raceworks Rocky Mountain Race Week Daily Coverage: Day One Action From Thunder Valley

Motion Raceworks Rocky Mountain Race Week Daily Coverage: Day One Action From Thunder Valley

Rocky Mountain Race Week is in the books, and we were traveling the route with all these folks so we could bring you the FREE livestream that we had going all week long. It was a week full of fun, adventures, carnage, and more, but even if you were there you wouldn’t have been able to see it all. There is that much going on! But thanks to the folks at Motion Raceworks we’ve got more cool video coverage from the entire week and we’re going to share it all with you one day at a time. They were on-site with their parts merch trailer and were helping people out with great stuff all week long. This is the first video from Day One at Thunder Valley in Noble Oklahoma, which means everyone is racing and there is no on road carnage or anything yet. This is the day where everyone thinks everything is great and that they can win this whole thing. Spirits are high. At least until the racing gets going.

Why? Because some of these poor folks are going to tear their stuff up before they ever get to leave the first track. The good news is that they have all night to work on them because we don’t leave for the next track until the next morning, and the drive isn’t horrible from Thunder Valley to the Texas Motorplex in Ennis. Plus, there is the World’s Largest Summit Racing Equipment store on the way and it’s full of great parts to fix most anything.

Between Summit and the Motion Raceworks trailer full of parts, there was no shortage of new stuff going on hot rods Sunday night.

Finnegan And Newbern Make The World’s Biggest Rooster Tail With The Rogers Jet Boat!

Finnegan And Newbern Make The World’s Biggest Rooster Tail With The Rogers Jet Boat!

Jet boat owners love a big rooster tail, because it looks cool not because it makes it go fast. With that said, there is an ideal angle for particular jet boat setups based on hull design, setback, etc. When in “race mode” a boat like this Rogers will want an angle of somewhere around 5 degrees up, but to get an ideal launch you want more water in the water. This is why race boats control the angle of the nozzle so that it can be in the ideal position for launch and then change to the ideal angle for high speed. But some folks use these to make a bigger rooster tail so they can look cool on the river. But not this big of a rooster tail. Cause this, this is something special. You know, like Newbern and Finnegan. This thing is a wheel standing, launch it out of the water machine now. It’s crazy.

They have stacked all the stuff that can make the nozzle aim higher, and taken off every single limiter. And now they have an insane angle that quite literally makes the biggest jet boat rooster tail in history. Oh and did I mention they tested it in a thunderstorm, on the lake, with the pouring rain and lightning all around them? Yeah, cause lightning doesn’t strike water….

Oh, and based on the level of giddy they have going on in this video, I’m expecting a second attempt for even bigger shenanigans.

Scary Flamin’ Video: Watch This Mustang Grudge Car Smash The Wall And Erupt Into Flames (Driver Walks Away)

Scary Flamin’ Video: Watch This Mustang Grudge Car Smash The Wall And Erupt Into Flames (Driver Walks Away)

There’s nothing scarier than fire in a race car. Nothing. That’s something being said by an announcer, not even a person who has to be front and center when their whole world looks like the inside of the freaking sun. Of course I’m saying that because of how this video plays out. Shot at the recent Carolina No/Time event at GALOT Motorsports Park in North Carolina, we’re going to see a magnificent looking Fox style Mustang that packs a massive nitrous engine hammer the wall with incredible force and then erupt into flames and look like Ghost Rider’s taxi.

The good news here is that the driver opens the door and climbs out himself. You can tell that the dude is banged up though as he nearly drops to his knees the moment he escapes the flaming hell he was sitting in. So what happened here?

Drag racing happened. This is not a no-prep event, it is a no-time event. So don’t go flapping your gums about the dangers of no prep racing. This was a deal where the guy likely had some decent money on the line and knew that if he was going to beat his opponent he was going to need to bring the power in plenty early and really lean on it. Well, the power came in but the traction went away. It seems like the dude may have stood in on the gas again as the car was crossing the track because the impact to the front corner on the driver’s side is brutally harsh.

That impact breaks the fuel cell which causes the flaming trail of fuel and kicks off the initial inferno. We’re guessing the electric fuel pump keeps the party going for a minute before the safety crew starts hosing the car down with fire suppressant. We hope that the driver makes a full recovery and we hope that the car is repaired. That thing was seriously freaking beautiful.

Press play below to see this brutal crash from the Carolina No Time event at GALOT –

When Last Minute Testing Your Burnout Truck For Cleetus And Cars, Sometimes Your Driveway Becomes The Burnout Pad

When Last Minute Testing Your Burnout Truck For Cleetus And Cars, Sometimes Your Driveway Becomes The Burnout Pad

Yep, James is no poser, that’s for sure. When under a time crunch to get their LS Swapped S10 Burnout truck, aka Burnie, ready for Cleetus and Cars Burnout Rivals in Indy, sometimes you have to piss off the neighbors. After stealing the trans out of his race car, and going through brake issues and a couple other snags, Burnie was back up and running with just hours to go before leaving for Indy. Of course there were a couple other snags and just an hour before it had to be on the trailer there was testing that needed going. After all, you got to know if there are vibrations, if the new torque converter is okay, and whether the brakes will hold for big time tire frying excitement or not.

Testing was in order and with no time to go anywhere else, the driveway became the burnout pad whether the neighbors liked it or not. Now I happen to know James’ neighborhood. I went there to pick up some tires he hooked me up with for the drive days on Rocky Mountain Race Week in 2019. It’s your average Colorado high desert neighborhood with family homes all around. This is not the country, and it is not remote. It is very close to town.

But the testing had to happen and the results were no vibrations, a tune that needs some tweaks, and brakes that need more bleeding to hold. But most importantly the smoke happened. And lots of it. Watch.

Classic YouTube: Watch As This VW Golf Monsters Hillclimbs At Full Chat!

Classic YouTube: Watch As This VW Golf Monsters Hillclimbs At Full Chat!

If there is one truth to racing, it’s that you never half-ass anything you do. If you can’t be bothered to give it your all, don’t bother showing up. That goes for any form of racing out there. But what does 100% look like? Full-on maximum attack, where you wonder if insanity has overridden the survival instinct, that’s what. It’s the difference between pedaling out of a bad situation on the strip versus hanging the hell on and crossing the stripe a tenth faster. It’s moderating a trail versus flying over every fourth little incline to keep up momentum in a rally. And in a hillclimb…well, here’s your lesson’s subject of the day. The driver is Daniel Wittwer, and his early VW Golf is the car. The Golf is only pushing out about 25o horsepower from a 16V 2.0L four, but you’d swear that there’s more the way that Wittwer is pushing this little VW. We are pretty sure that he used the Armco barrier as a ricochet device, bouncing the car back onto the asphalt. We’re almost proof-positive that at one point he was two tires off on the shoulder besides one glaringly obvious moment. We are pretty sure that the rear tires are worn a quarter less than the fronts, given how much hang time they got in corners. And the cover photo speaks for itself, doesn’t it? Maybe not as much as Wittwer’s celebration after the run…we’d be happy to be alive, too, after a hell ride like that!

Bonneville Speed Week Video: Record Setting Runs And Muscle Cars On The Salt During Speed Week 2020

Bonneville Speed Week Video: Record Setting Runs And Muscle Cars On The Salt During Speed Week 2020

What truly makes Bonneville Speed Week special is the variety of vehicles that you see hauling ass down the salt. Different body styles, different engine combos, and different visions are what Bonneville Speed Week is all about, and it is what people who come for the first time always comment on. There are so many classes, so many combos within those classes, and so much flexibility in how you build your perfect race car for Speed Week, that there is no way that any two are exactly the same. Streamliners, Lakesters, door cars, roadsters, and sports cars just scratch the surface as there are so many different classes, variations, and interpretations of each of these classifications. When you watch the two videos below, one that is all record runs from Bonneville Speed Week 2020, and the other that is nothing but Muscle Cars on the salt, you’ll get to see just how cool this place is and just how cool the racing is.

Watch and see what you think and tell us what vehicle in these videos is your favorite. Would you rather drive a streamliner down the salt? A lakester? That’s like a streamliner but with the wheels hanging out. Or a door car? Maybe a roadster?

Watch and tell us what you think.

The Greek’s Great Weekend: Watch Chris Karamesines Make His First Career NHRA Final Round In Montreal Circa 1990

The Greek’s Great Weekend: Watch Chris Karamesines Make His First Career NHRA Final Round In Montreal Circa 1990

It was a magical thing to watch. The oldest top fuel finalist in NHRA history at 61 years of age, Chris Karamesines “The Golden Greek” the man, the myth, and the legend, was finally standing on the verge of winning an NHRA National event. The event in question was Le GrandNational Molson, which was the NHRA event held each year at the Sanair Super Speedway for decades. A day of awesome competition had seen the Greek outrun Lori Johns, beat Joe Amato, and finally find himself in the final against Gary Ormsby who had won the 1989 NHRA top fuel championship.

Karamesines was a long way from the halcyon days of 1960 at Alton, Illinois where he and crew chief Don Maynard supposedly made drag racing’s first 200mph run. It was that run that started a career that still maintains today as Karamesines can be found racing top fuel dragsters in 2020, albeit not with the success he had in 1990.

This is the first of two Christ Karamesines Time Machines I made and it’s a really fun watch. The dude it awesome and he is still awesome today. Quick with a smile, soft spoken but never one to be messed with, this 90-ish year old guy is a national treasure and he was one at the age 0f 61 as well.

Enjoy!
