Four unique Pilot’s Watches representing the mission’s values of Leadership, Hope, Generosity and Prosperity will travel into space before being auctioned in aid of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital®

The Pilot’s watch continues to hold significance as one of IWC Schaffhausen’s most iconic models within its luxury timepiece collection. As a true tool for aviation, the example is displayed in various forms and renditions to highlight the functions available to take to the sky. IWC Schaffhausen is proud to announce its newest project to help support Inspiration4, the first all-civilian mission to orbit and the Saint Jude Children’s Research Hospital. The limited-edition IWC Inspiration4 Chronograph Collection features four unique timepieces, which will be auctioned off as part of the mission’s aim to raise funds for and promote the lifesaving work of Saint Jude Children’s Research Hospital. The new IWC Pilot’s watch is made from a white ceramic and features a dark blue lacquered dial to signify the stars in space. The titanium backcase presents the Inspiration4 logo and production numerals as engravings to signify the monumental experience. Continuing the theme of white, the IWC Schaffhausen x Inspiration4 Pilot’s Watch features a matching white rubber strap with a leather inlay. The one-of-a-kind examples designed and manufactured by URWERK Watches are meant to push the boundaries of design, while the performance and functionality speak for themselves. The UR-100 Collection is one of URWERK’s most popular models, making limited-edition models like the new “Blue Planet”, some of the most coveted pieces on the market. The UR-100V Blue Planet is limited to 25 pieces, using state-of-the-art movement technology to help track the earth and our solar system. The 41mm blue PVD steel case houses the head-turning matching blue dial with accents of vibrant green complimenting indicators. The transparent back case allows for a closer look at the in-house UR 12.02 self-winding mechanical movement, while the outer case is engraved to signify the limited-edition release and production number. The matching blue strap is made from nylon and leather to ensure comfortable wear for the owner, further highlighting the time transition between earth and space. The limited-edition URWERK UR-100V Blue Planet watch is currently available through an authorized dealer for the price of $51,250.

The Ulysse Nardin X Collection features an array of diversely styled luxury timepieces designed for watch enthusiasts of all kinds. Ulysse Nardin has taken to its Instagram to tease the upcoming unveiling of the Swiss watchmaker’s next highly-anticipated piece. As part of the Watches and Wonders 2021 event, Ulysse Nardin has deemed the special occasion its “Vertical Odyssey”, pulling inspiration from the deepest depths of the ocean to the highest points of the stars. Although media and other information have yet to be announced, one thing is for sure, the release is sure to be celebrated by all watch enthusiasts and collectors worldwide. Zenith follows up their striking DEFY 21 Ultraviolet with the new DEFY 21 Ultrablue.

In 2020, Zenith launched the DEFY 21 Ultraviolet as the world’s very first violet-colored chronograph movement. Now, just a year later, Zenith has debuted the new DEFY 21 Ultrablue. This new watch features tones of deep indigo and electric blue allowing it to find the perfect balance of vibrancy. The blue found on the movement is contrasted by the greys of the case and chronograph counters while white can be found on the the hour indices and hands. Matching the blue of the movement is the insert for the black rubber strap. As for its construction, the case is made of titanium, measures in at 44mm and is sandblasted for a matte finish.

It doesn’t always take a million-dollar car or a legendary athlete to derive inspiration for a luxury handmade timepiece. Grand Seiko understands this thought, which is why it looks to mother nature as the creativity for the newest addition to the Heritage Collection. The Grand Seiko SLGH005 captures the dynamism of the white birch tree forests near the studio in Shizukuishi, where all Grand Seiko mechanical watches are crafted. The 40mm stainless-steel watch features a gloss dial with a linear pattern, representing the appearance of the white birch tree, while the only other focus is the date indicator. The high-beat watch is powered by the revolutionary Caliber 9SA5, which offers a power reserve of 80 hours thanks to its enhanced energy efficiency. A matching stainless-steel band and three-fold clasp complete the simplistic design of the Grand Seiko SLGH005. This example by Grand Seiko only further proves that inspiration for exquisite pieces can be found no further than someone’s backyard.
